Hey-ho friends!
So, as some of you may know I will be spending the next few months exploring Europe en route to Turkey.
BUT in the meantime I wanted to tell you about a little project called 'NaPoWriMo' (National Poetry Writing Month) which I will be participating in this year.
The challenge is to write a poem for every day in April with an overall aim to finish with 30 brand spanking new poems by the end of the month. I shall be publishing mine alongside some other exceptionally talented Cambridge poets, so if you fancy following our progress as a group just head on over to the collective blog.
This year I am lucky enough to be on an adventure that just so happens to coincide with NaPoWriMo which should allow for maximum creativity and inspiration! (Here's hoping!)
I may also post my favourite ones up on here...but we shall see.
Once again, here's the link to the Cambridge group blog:

See you on the 1st!

New videos!
Hello!
I decided to be productive yesterday, so between long walks, herbal teas, haiku writing and a spontaneous swing dance lesson, I filmed a few poetry videos!
After a chat with a Cambridge friend of mine last week I realised my youtube channel was in need of a revamp, so I have uploaded some rough cuts of new recordings of 'Humans Being', 'Nosebleeds' and 'Joker'. (If you've seen me perform recently there's a likelihood you've heard at least one of these!)
The old recording of 'Humans Being' in particular was the first to be taken down (despite having over 500 views) as I feel the new recording is a more accurate substitute for how I perform the piece live.
If you like any of the poems please don't hesitate to share them around as they need all the viral love they can get! (That sounds a bit sleezy doesn't it? But I'm all for 'pimping' poetry)
If you are interested in hearing more of my work please visit youtube.com/daisytgpoetry
Enjoy!

Newnham Concert

Here I am with my two fabulous musicians from Tuesday's lunchtime poetry session in The Principle's Lodge at Newnham College, University of Cambridge. This really was a fantastic space to perform in; it has great acoustics and a surprisingly intimate feel.
There was such a good turn out for this event and I felt quite overwhelmed to be performing to the friends and colleagues I'd met during my time working at the college (as well as some familiar faces from outside work!)
It really was a great way to round off my time there and I hope it won't be the last opportunity to collaborate with the beautiful venues scattered within the walls of Newnham.

So, last Sunday I was lucky enough to help run a workshop held at Anglia Ruskin University as part of Cam Skills Fest 2014, with poet Fay Roberts and SHINDIG's very own Wesley Freeman-Smith.
The workshop explored how poetry and storytelling changes with musical accompaniment. All the music was improvised and unscripted, the musicians switched instruments and we even scattered a few items of percussion amongst the audience. It was a tremendous to be given the chance to experiment with the narrative elements of my poetry, and how this is affected when live music is added. It forces you to think about rhythm, tone and tempo in a completely new light. The unique opportunity to collaborate with such talented musicians (Teresa [aka MOUTH] & Gaze Is Ghost) was what made the afternoon for me.
